Choose a complete unit of meaning
Start with a sentence, answer or musical phrase that can be understood on its own. Leave enough sound before and after it to preserve the rhythm. A fragment cut halfway through a breath is harder to study.
Create the practice file
- Open the lesson or recording and find the wanted passage.
- Select and preview it, adjusting the beginning and ending as needed.
- Use Trim to keep that range.
- Export a new file with a useful name, such as the topic or phrase being practised.
Keep a route back to the full context
Retain the longer original and note where the passage came from. If the short exercise later needs an extra sentence or beat, make a new selection from that source rather than piecing together several compressed exports.
